Three Reasons to Hire a Bookkeeper in 2021

I was recently at a networking event when someone asked me, “Why would someone hire a bookkeeper in 2021?

Aren’t bookkeepers obsolete?”

I shook my head and laughed.  All of the new tax legislation and IRS rules and regulations make the expertise and experience of a bookkeeper more valuable now than ever before.

Don’t think that you could benefit from hiring a bookkeeper?

Here are 3 reasons why you should hire a bookkeeper in 2021:

1. A bookkeeper will you save you one of your most valuable assets:  your time.

We have all heard saying that “time is money.”

As an entrepreneur or business owner, you understand that your time is precious and extremely limited.  During the regular course of business,  you need to spend your time managing your employees and contractors, providing services for your clients, creating and selling products, making decisions, generating leads…and the list that goes on and on.

Therefore it is essential that you prioritize your time for maximum your time, results and revenue.

Hiring a bookkeeper allows you to focus your time on growing and scaling your business, not trying to balance your general ledger or keeping up with tax deadlines.

2. Bookkeepers have the knowledge and expertise to reduce tax complications.

Regardless of race, gender, or economic status, there are few things that are able to strike fear into the hearts of men and women like the I.R.S.

As a business owner, it is crucial that you adhere to the timely filing of financial documents, including but not limited to: quarterly or annual taxes, estimated tax payments, corporate tax payments, 1099s for freelancers and contract employees and more.

A skilled bookkeeper will not only “balance your books,” but make sure that you stay in the good graces of the IRS.  I don’t know about you, but this reason alone is enough for most people to hire a bookkeeper!

3. Finally, bookkeepers reduce frustration and help maintain your sanity.

Invoices, ledgers, taxes, oh my!

Unless you earned a degree in accounting, the very sound of these words are enough to have you reaching for a bottle of Tylenol.

There are a lot of moving pieces and deadlines on the financial side of your business.  A bookkeeper has the knowledge and experience to put in systems and procedures to ensure that everything is processed and filed in a timely manner.

And the best part: all of this occurs with little to no involvement from you.  Therefore, you can focus on your zone of genius:  your business.
